Carol E. Pierce, 89 of Atchison, KS, passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

Memorial service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison, KS. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Multiple Sclerosis and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.

Carol was born on July 29, 1928 in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Charles and Elva (Chilson) Brun. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1946. Carol worked as a nurse’s aide for twenty-five year for the Atchison Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary. Carol and her husband were a Head Start foster family for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, flowers, reading and going to First Steps Childhood Learning Center and being with the kids. Carol especially loved her grandchildren.

Carol married Lawrence Pierce on August 31, 1946 in Atchison, KS. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2002. Survivors include three daughters, Janice (Dean) Lawrence, Platte City, MO, Linda (Rick) Dorssom, Atchison, KS, Lea Ann Callaway, Atchison, KS, eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Larry Pierce, two brothers, Kenneth Brun, Warren Brun, and a son in law Jack Callaway.
