Obituary for Michael D "Mike" Bodenhausen

Michael D "Mike"  Bodenhausen
Michael D. “Mike” Bodenhausen, 64, of Muscotah, KS, died on Monday, May 29th, 2017 as the result of an ATV accident on the family farm.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Al Schirmacher officiating. Burial will follow in the Muscotah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 -8:30 pm on Thursday, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Muscotah United Church or the Kansas Dairy Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Mike was born on March 4, 1953 in Horton, KS the son of Dale R. and Mary (Freeland) Bodenhausen. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1971 and from Kansas State University with a degree in Dairy Science in 1974. Mike had worked as a fieldman for the Holstein Association of America, and then as a classifier from 1975-1981. He was a farmer and dairyman in the Muscotah area and had taught dairy judging at K-State 2005-2006. Mr. Bodenhausen served as the 2nd District Atchison County Commissioner from 2012 – 2015. He was an active member of the Muscotah United Church where he had served as treasurer and as chairman of the board. He was a past president and member of the USD #377 School Board from 1987-1995. Mike also served as a director for the Kansas Dairy Association, and was named the Kansas State Dairy Leader of the Year in 2014. He was a past president of the Kansas Holstein Association, 1992-1993. Mr. Bodenhausen was presently working again as a classifier for the Holstein Association of America.

He was married to Linda Hines on Dec. 6, 1981 in Lancaster, KS. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Ryan (Kayla) Bodenhausen, Muscotah, KS., a daughter, Jeni (Bob) Hespe, Olathe, KS, his mother, Mary Bodenhausen, Muscotah, KS, two brothers, Steven Bodenhausen, Horton, KS and Mark Bodenhausen, Muscotah, KS, two grandchildren, Brinley Bodenhausen, and Thomas “Tommy” Hespe. His father preceded him in death.
