Florence C. Hinz, 94, of Vintage Park, Atchison, KS, died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the Atchison Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Effingham Union Church. Burial will follow in the Camp Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Becker Chapel, 402 3rd St, Effingham, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Flowing Streams Ministries, the Show-Me-Christian Youth Home, or Lakeside Terrace, Sabetha, KS and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Florence was born on April 1, 1923 in Farmington, KS the daughter of Harry and Caroline R. (Bodenhausen) Schrader. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1940.
She worked part time for 15 years in the Atchison County Extension Office and worked as a secretary for Atchison County Noxious Weed Department for 16 years. Florence was a member of the Effingham Union Church, a member of the Sara Circle, the 48er’s Club, the Senior Citizens, Effingham, and the Sunny Hill Thimble Club. She was active as superintendent of the Open Class Foods for the Atchison County Fair for many years. Florence enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and cooking. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was married to George (Junior) Hinz, Jr. on January 1, 1943 at Camp Creek United Methodist Church. Mr. Hinz preceded her in death on November 10, 1994. Survivors include a son, Don (Sara) Hinz, Effingham, KS, two daughters, Mary Kay (Danny) Barnett, Effingham, KS, and Carolyn (Mike) Turvey, Shawnee, KS, eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, two brothers, Floyd and Edwin Schrader, and two infant granddaughters preceded her in death.
