Carol Elaine Wehking, 73, of Lancaster, KS was one of three people who died Friday, May 12, 2017 from an automobile accident on Interstate 29 near Platte City, Mo. Also killed were her daughter and son-in law, Lisa and James Wilson, of Effingham, KS.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 18th, 2017 at the Atchison County Community High School Gymnasium. Burial will follow at 4:00 pm at the Old Huron Cemetery, 310th Rd and Old Huron Rd, Huron, KS. A formal visitation will not be held.

Carol was born on November 10, 1943 in Horton, KS, the daughter of Charles A. and Dorothy M. (Hampton) Lockwood. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School and had worked as a secretary for Atchison County COOP, the Bank of Lancaster, Scholz Insurance Company and most recently Atchison Products. She also owned and operated CR Stitches out of her home. Carol was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster, KS, where she had served as organist and choir director. She was highly talented and gifted in music and the creative arts. She was an accomplished pianist/organist and excelled at cooking, gardening, quilting, sewing and interior design. Soft spoken and loving, her absence will leave a hole in the hearts of many.

She was married to Eldon Wehking on November 26, 1961. Mr. Wehking survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Todd (Jayne) Wehking, Lancaster, KS, grandchildren Collin Wehking, Everest,KS, Courtney (Joe) Klepees, Basehor, KS, Troy Wehking, Lancaster, KS, Matt (Jake) Wisdom, Hiawatha, KS and Austin (Mariah) Gibson, Horton, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Christopher R. Wehking.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Muscotah Cancer Support Group or the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave, Atchison. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com
