William J. “Bill” Norris, 72, of Atchison, KS died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral services will be2:00 pm on Friday, March 31st, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 30th, 2017 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Childrens Mercy Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Bill was born on Oct. 5, 1944 in Atchison Kansas the son of J.W. and Florence (Shelton) Norris. He graduated from Troy High School in 1962. Bill was a farmer and worked as a welder for the former Rockwell International/Atchison Casting Co for over twenty years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the 6943 Steel Workers Union and enjoyed fishing, raising cattle, hunting, gardening and being outdoors and especially his grandchildren.

He was married to Jerri L. Thomas on March 3, 1962 and later divorced. Survivors include five sons; William “Bill” (Beth) Norris, Jr, Atchison, KS, Joe Norris, Branson, MO, Larry S. Norris, Atchison, KS, Jeffrey (Erica) Norris, Atchison and Dustin (Shawna) Norris, Atchison, KS, three daughters; Robin Begley, Kansas City, MO, Kellie Schuetz, Atchison, KS, and Rebecca Norris, Kansas City, MO., two step –sons; Charlie and Shaun Handke, Atchison, a brother; Richard Norris, Atchison, and four sisters; Opal Lewman, and Margie Wilburn, both of Atchison, KS, Shirley Wilsey, Maple Hill, KS, and Kathy Smith, Troy, KS, twenty two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and special care-giver Frank Muller, Atchison. His parents, and two brothers, Larry and Lawrence Norris preceded him in death.
