Jean Ann “Jeanie” Joyce, 68, of Denton, KS died Sunday, February 12, 2017 at her home surround by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am on Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Church, Bendena, KS with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, O.S.B., as Celebrant. A Nightingale Service will follow the Mass and burial will follow it in the St. Benedicts Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15th, at St. Benedicts Church, Bendena, KS. The parish rosary will be recited at 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 15th, Memorial contributions are suggested to the Dorothy Miller Nursing Scholarship at Benedictine College, or for the Mid-West Transplant Organization and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Jeanie was born on March 2, 1948 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of John M. and Betty (Cairo) Dittemore. She attended Severance Grade School, and graduated from Midway High School in 1966. She graduated with her BSN degree in Nursing from Missouri-Western College, St. Joseph, MO. Jeanie worked as a Registered ICU Nurse for many years at the Mosiac Health Center, St. Joseph, MO, and helped to establish satellite clinics for Mosaic in Kansas City and St. Joseph. She was also very active in Mid-West Transplant for many years and sold crop insurance. She was a member of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Bendena, where she was the church organist for many years, and served on the Women’s Council. She was a member of the American Academy of Critical Care Nurses and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and being a grandmother, attending as many sporting events as she could make.

She was married to Gerald W.” Jerry” Joyce on December 27, 1966. Jerry survives of the home. Additional Survivors include a son, Marty and wife Amy Joyce, Denton, KS and daughter, Anne and husband Ric Baird, Silver Lake, KS, a brother John Libel, Smithville, MO, and sisters, Joni Rost, Savannah, MO and Jan Dittemore, Overland Park, KS, eight grandchildren, Blake, Cole, Keenan, and Ella Baird, and Wade, Emma, Abby and Sam Joyce. Her parents preceded her in death.
