Bessie L. Jones, 84, of Atchison, KS passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at Atchison Hospital, Atchison, KS.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at First Christian Church with Rev. Matt Broxterman officiating. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS. Bessie was born on March 26, 1932 in Muscotah, KS, the daughter of Elmer and Goldie (Walker) Loyd. She was a homemaker. Bessie was of the Christian faith, enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her grandchildren and extended family.

Bessie married Vernon L. Jones Sr. on November 25, 1962. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1978. Survivors include three children, Vernon and Misty Jones Jr., Atchison, KS, Annette and Harold Hill, Butler, MO, Lavern and Danny Fitkin, Atchison, KS, a brother, Samuel Loyd, Gun barrel, TX, two sisters, Darlene Doty, Horton, KS, Sharon Dexter, Hiawatha, KS, grandchildren; Jenny Bowen, Billie Kay Royer, Amy Darling, Harold Hill III, Andrew Hill, Stephanie Fitkin, Cayden Jones, great grandchildren; Brendon Singleton, Chase Bowen, Dakota Harris, Kaylyn Royer, Savannah Royer, Logan Darling and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three children, Ronnie and Johnny Strathman, Violet Rose Jones, and three sisters; Isabel Merz, Lois Siebenmorgan and Mary Oldker.
