Obituary for Harry Edward Peabody

Harry Edward Peabody, 82, of Rushville, MO died Wed., June 1, 2016 at his home following a long battle with cancer.
According to his wishes his body has been donated to the University Of Kansas Medical Center. Private family interment of his cremated remains will be in the Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.
No visitation or services will be held. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Harry was born on July 27, 1933 in Omaha, NE the son of C.E. and Helen (Hardy) Peabody. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1976. Harry worked as an Airline Pilot for TWA for over 25 years retiring in 1988. Mr. Peabody owned and operated the Atchison Dairy Queen, and the Massoit Apartments. He was elected and served on the Atchison City Commission from 1987 to 2000.

He was married to Kathy Gallagher in Nov, 1957. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include long time companion, Judy Young, of the home, a son Brian (Diane) Peabody, Roswell, GA, two daughters, Leslie (Jim) Spink, Lafayette, CO., Mona (Michael) Wirth, Colorado Springs, CO., two brothers, Raymond Peabody, Albuquerque, NM., and Edwin (JoMarie) Peabody, Omaha, NE., two sisters, Margaret Joseph, Lincoln, NE, and Helen Raymos, Jacksonville, FL., five grandchildren, Michael, David, Daniel, Stephen, and Brendan, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a sister, Ruth Steingraber, and sister-in law, Cathy Peabody preceded him in death.
