Darlene L. Durfee, 87, Atchison, KS, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler and Rev. Ben Ockree, officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Atchison. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School Technology Endowment and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Darlene L. Haeffele was born on March 4, 1929 in Falls City, Nebraska, the daughter of Walter P. and Gertrude F. (Fritz) Haeffele. Darlene attended schools in Falls City and she and Wilbur Durfee were married on August 27, 1950 in Falls City. They moved to Atchison in 1956. Darlene was a presser for the Horton Garment Company in Atchison and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was very active in church activities and bible classes. Darlene enjoyed reading, crafts, camping, and she loved spending time babysitting her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Terry L. (Emma) Durfee, St. Joseph, MO; son-in-law, Steve Pickman, Atchison; brother, Darrell Haeffele, Scranton, KS; sisters, Sharon Oestmann, Aurora, CO, Gayleen Edwinson, Apple Valley, MN, and Karla Dyer, Eagan, MN; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur; parents, Walter and Gertrude Haeffele; daughter, Joyce Pickman; brother, Harold Haeffele; and sister, Gwendolyn Van Vickle.
