RoseMary “Rosie” Dodge, 86, of Denton KS died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at her home .
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Bendena with Fr. Francis Bakyor as Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Benedicts Cemetery, Bendena. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Benedicts Church, Bendena with visitation to follow until 8:30 pm. The Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict’s Church, Bendena or to the Arthritis Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home. RoseMary was born on Nov. 16, 1929 on a farm in rural Denton, KS the daughter of John M. and Lucille (Kout) Joyce. She graduated from Denton High School in 1947. She went on to get her Teaching Certificate and began teaching at Mt. Vernon Grade School. RoseMary then taught kindergarten in Denton before cooking at the Midway schools and retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Bendena and served on the Altar’s Society of the church. She was a member of the Denton Sewing Club and enjoyed embroidery, cross-word puzzles, cooking and especially her grandchildren.

She was married to Ernest A. Dodge on Nov. 25, 1948. Mr. Dodge preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1993. Survivors include three sons: Ron (Karen) Dodge, Jim Dodge, both of Denton KS, and Steve (Debbie) Dodge, Covington, GA, a daughter: Nancy (the late-Jon) Daeschner, Bentonville, AR, two brothers: John Joyce, St. Joseph, MO, and Jerry Joyce, Denton, KS., seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, and sister, Dorothy Miller, preceded her in death.
