Obituary for Delia M. "Maxine" Jones (Dye)

Delia Maxine (Dye) Jones, 96, of DeKalb, MO passed on to be with the Lord and her beloved Clifford on Sat. Feb. 27, 2016 at her son’s home in DeKalb surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at the DeKalb Christian Church with Pastor David Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Cemetery, DeKalb, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the DeKalb Christian Church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Maxine was born on November 26, 1919, in DeKalb, Mo the daughter of Mac and Edith (Pitts) Dye. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1937, and was a lifelong member of the DeKalb Christian Church.

She was married to Roy Clifford Jones on March 4, 1939 in St. Joseph, MO by Rev. W.L. McGrew, and shared 71 years together before Clifford’s death in 2007. She spent her entire life caring for Clifford and their five children. She was the glue that held the family together. Maxine was also known for her large fried chicken dinners she made for the tobacco workers on their farm.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Ann Jones, Lee’s Summit, Mo, four sons: Ronnie (Teri) Jones, DeKalb, Mo, Jerry (friend Debbie Young) St. Joseph, MO, Kevin (Cindy) Jones, St. Joseph, Mo, Kenton (Debi) Jones, DeKalb, MO, five grandchildren: Alan Jones, Marty Jones, Rusty Jones, Kylie Bowen, and Caleb Jones, six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband Clifford, an infant son Joel David Jones, and a sister Helen Frakes preceded her in death.
