Betty J. Jansen, 91, of Atchison, KS, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at Atchison Senior Village.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Chaplain Ryan VanPeursem and Rev. Brad Oyler officiating. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 PM. Family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or NEK Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.beckerdyer.com.
Betty was born February 12, 1924 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Harold & Lenora (Minor) Bradley. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1942. Betty worked for KP&L for four years as a secretary and then as an AVON sales representative for forty two years, retiring in 2006. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and served as treasurer of the PTA at Bellevue School when her kids attended. Betty enjoyed reading, bowling, fishing, traveling and her grandchildren.
Betty married Clinton Jansen on June 26, 1943 in Dothan, AL. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2015. Survivors include two sons; Ronald (Celia) Jansen, North Kansas City, MO, and Thomas Jansen, Atchison, KS, two daughters; Carol Gilkison, Independence, MO, and Donna Schowengerdt, Atchison, KS, eight grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
