Obituary for Larry Clinton Frakes

Larry C. Frakes, 84, of Atchison, KS, passed away, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Mr. Frakes has been cremated and Memorial Services will be 7:00 pm, Monday, August 17, 2015 at the First Christian Church, 7th and Santa Fe Streets, Atchison. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, Monday, at the church. Private family Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to help with final expenses. Words of comfort and remembrance may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com.

Larry Clinton Frakes was born May 16, 1931 in DeKalb, MO, the son of George E. and Mary Ruth (Morris) Frakes. He graduated from DeKalb High School and served as a sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War. Larry had worked at LFM (currently Bradken) steel foundry; KW Dart in Kansas City; Hixon Lumber Company (Atchison) as an Assistant Manager; and finally was owner of Frakes Lumberyard at 10th and Main Streets in Atchison. Larry was a member of the Atchison First Christian Church and a 60 year member of the Atchison American Legion Post # 6.

Larry and Emily Sue Hiner were married on July 1, 1951 in Rushville, MO. She preceded Larry in death on April 21, 2004.

Survivors include his children, Gary Steven Frakes, Rushville, MO and Jennifer (Harry Kiehl III) Kiehl, Atchison; 6 grandchildren, Jason Frakes, Jon Frakes, Casey Frakes, Jessica Kerr, Emily Kiehl and Zach Kiehl; 3 great-grandchildren, Lilly Frakes, Zaedyn Harper, and Zaeleigh Kerr.
