Ethel M. (Brown) Jones, 92 years old of Atchison KS died Sat. July 25, 2015 at the Atchison Senior Village.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015 at the Atchison United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Kollhoff officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 pm at the Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 28th, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Senior Village or the Atchison United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.

Ethel M. Brown was born on Aug. 9, 1922 in Columbus, KS the daughter of Richard P. and Esther (Hefley) Brown. She graduated from CCC High School, Columbus in 1940. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pittsburg State College, Pittsburg KS. Mrs. Jones was a elementary school teacher and taught for over 40 years for grade schools in Baxter Springs and Columbus, KS. Ethel was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, the Atchison Lions Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She had volunteered at the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center and enjoyed baking, word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to David Martin Jones on April 7, 1946 in Baxter Springs, KS. Mr. Jones preceded her in death on January 26th, 2014. Survivors include a son, R.D. (Kay) Jones, Atchison, KS, a brother, Dr. Charles (Marie) Brown, Ventura, CA, a sister, Ruth (Bus) Steinke, Wichita, KS, five granddaughters, Angela (Steve) Hunter, Lisa (Ryan) Tull, Nicole (Greg) Harper, Stacey (Royce White) Lee, Megan (David Matt) Jones and ten great grandchildren. Her parents, a stillborn daughter, two brothers, Harold & Richard Brown, and one sister, Joyce Ward preceded her in death.
