Oliver 'Roger'  Oswald
Oliver ‘Roger’ Oswald, 81, formerly of Effingham, KS passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Atchison Medicalodge with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Muscotah United Church with Rev. Jeff Cochran and Rev. Mark Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00, Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorials in honor of Mr. Oswald are suggested to the Muscotah United Church or the Town & Country Senior Center of Effingham and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Roger was born December 9, 1931 in Horton, KS the son of Oliver Henry and Alice (Wenger) Oswald. He attended ACCHS in Effingham through his sophomore year before he began helping his father full time with farming. Roger served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer, worked for the Atchison County Road and Bridge Department and part-time, during the winter, for the Gaskell Bolt Company. Roger was a member of the American Legion, served on the USD #377 School Board, Co-Op Board and the Church Board. He liked traveling with the Our Gang Group, attending auctions, working on motors and restoring old Case IH tractors. Roger enjoyed collecting hats, guns, tractors and cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Roger married Vivian Beach on October 9, 1955 in Muscotah, KS at the Muscotah Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Duane (Jan) Oswald, Effingham, KS; daughters, DeeAnna (Bob) Halling, Bendena, KS; Kathy (Nick) Enzbrenner, Effingham, KS; brother, Floyd Oswald, Muscotah, KS; sister, Jessie Bottorff, Horton, KS, 8 grandchildren, Amy Potts, Ryan Halling, Jamie Oswald, Kalen Oswald, Wesley Oswald, Jayde Oswald, Logan Enzbrenner and Sydney Enzbrenner; 2 great-grandchildren, Addison and Adam Potts and special friend, Carol Reece, Horton, KS.
